C.E.S. - R.A.K. Week(s)

"What's Love Got To Do With It?"

Hello,
Did you know that February is not only known for Valentine's Day anymore? It has been claimed by society as "Love Month", and now also includes "Random Acts of Kindness Day". I find it very appropriate, and think it's a great idea to get people back to thinking of others again.
There are many ways that anyone can "spread the love", and random acts of kindness is not the only way. Sure, we tend to do so more, during February and December. But they are not the only months it is needed to be done, and it's not enough. When people think of random acts of kindness, they usually think of it as an open-to-options term. Means that the options of how and when are open to any act at any time - as it should be.
More excuses to comercialize? or Meant as a reminder? You decide. We all know we don't need another excuse for a holiday, just to be comercialized. As a reminder, it shows us that it may not be practiced enough. Life gets busy, and people tend not to think of others. They forget showing gratitude, and often don't get the chance to enjoy life with family and friends.
I'm sure I've been guilty of this myself, on numerous occasions. Due to this, I try to help change this for myself, and any others that want to join along the way. I have others that are similar to this, as they follow along the same theory.
~+=+~=+~
Today I bring you a week long event, to help practice better. This is an extended version of "Random Acts of Kindness Day", and lasts for 7 days. Welcome to...

R.A.K. Week!

WHEN:
Feb.13-19 (annually)
WHERE:
Anywhere you are.
HOW:
Here's a quick list of some ideas... (^^^)
APPRECIATION/ GRATITUDE:
Showing we care & are thankful by:
~ Respecting others & their "spaces"
~ "Thank-you"s (verbal, notes, etc...)
~ Hugs, kisses (were appropriate), etc...
~ Small treats (little/ non-expensive)
~ Dinner on you (eat in, or go out)
~ Etc...
+
HELPING:
Share yourself/ time through:
~ Read to someone that can't.
~ Lift/ carry something heavy.
~ Help with chores/ errands.
~ Share knowledge/ information.
~ Introduce people.
~ Etc...
+
LOVING:
~ Actually listening/ paying attention to what others are saying to you.
~ Being available as a "shoulder/ rock" at any time - when needed especially.
~ Communicating what you mean as clearly as possible, so they can hear & understand you. (Misunderstandings can SUCK!)
~ Dedicating yourself to the friendships you have chosen/ grown.
~ Evolving through being true to yourself and others - honest, respectful, and in "good standing"/ responsibly.
~ Forgiving yourself and others for mistakes made in the past.
~ Giving honest efforts into all growth attempts/ tasks, caring for yourself & others, and all kinds of relationships.
~ Hoping that you will fill in the rest of this alphabetic start... (^^^)
For my complete list here, please feel free to ask me. Thankz

Growth in positive ways, is never bad for us.
I hope this also helps others, as it helps me.

Take care & Safe travels!

C.E.S. - Screen Free Week

(~*~)
Hello,
We all know why to practice Screen Free Week, but how much do we even when we commit to it? Here is a helpful guideline of how to do it in a busy screen loving society.
=
IDEA OPTIONS
A) All week no screen - no exceptions
B) Important Tasks Only - educational or business
C) Quality Time (QT) - family & friends
D) 1/2 days - day use or night use only
E) Any combo of the above
=
THE IDEA(S):
SCREEN FREE WEEK
WHEN: April 29th to May 5th
WHO: Anyone
WHERE: Wherever you are.
WHAT: A week free of screens – as best we can...
Finding it hard? Check out this quick blog:
http://wackycelebrations.blogspot.ca/2013/05/re-screen-free-week.html
WHY:
As this is the month to care about our planet and all things on it, this does also include ourselves. It has become more and more apparent that our society has grown with technology, to include a dependency on not only screens but all and any technology that we can afford. As technology aids us in our day to day activities, it also becomes more and more necessary to break free from the many screens. Technology is great to use as a tool, but when it comes to being "real human beings", we need to remember that life continues outside of technology also. We are not machines that are meant to be physically "connected" to technology, as much as some of us have become. And thankfully, it is not so literal like the Matrix movies. lol
+
This event is to encourage and enable growth "outside the screen/ box", help with any needed organizations/ streamlining in our physical realities, and to enjoy each other more.
=
ACTIVITY OPTIONS:
Rainy Dayz – indoors
~ "Field Trips" are always fun adventures! Why not check out what's in your neighbourhood and if any indoor events are going on, or what art/ cultural space there is to explore. Examples: Why not check out your local library, museum, conservatory, etc... Any grand openings, or galas coming up this week?
+
~ Friendly Visits are always fun too, as we get to enjoy the company of those we appreciate/ love. If you have the time and funds, why not visit a friend that lives outside your city. We don't always get the chance, and if your schedule permits... this may be that chance.
~ Marathon Game Day!
Whether board games, card games, chase each other around games; all interactive games are fun. Why not invite some friends over for an afternoon, and get your game face on!
+~+~+~
Sunny Dayz – Outside
~ Trips to the park are always enjoyable if you have kids, but can also be fun as adults too. If you have something fun to do. Here's a fun alphabetic list to give you some ideas.
FUN:
Activity play equipment - is always around...
Bike riding – family trip?
BBQs
Climbing trees
Duck watching – no feeding please.
Generic small arts & crafts activities – friendship bracelets, sketching/ doodling, painting...
Hip hop dance practice (lol)
Idea sharing - with friends, family, and neighbours
Just lounging – in the sun, sun tanning, sleeping...
Kick Stress to the Curb – enjoy the outdoors
Loving every minute of it!
More exercise – aerobic, yoga, belly dancing...
Networking – meet your neighbours/ community members.
Opportunities – are enless...
Pure fun – juggling, poi spinning, stilt walking...
Reading – story sharing can help shape futures for the positive!
Sand play – bring the bucket of toys & a shovel or two!
Sports – frisbee, football, soccer...
Tag games – tag, dodgeball, capture the flag...
Water play – splash parks, swimming, water balloons...
+
~
Local events are great ways to enjoy some sunshine. Why not check out what's going on locally, or in a nearby city/ area?
Ideas:
Activity centres, awareness events, concerts, family fun days, festivals, fundraisers...

+
~ Camping is a great way to take that "mini" vacation! Go with friends/ family and enjoy what nature has to offer!
Feel free to add to these thoughts.

Until next time,
Take care & Safe travels!

Daze of the Dead - DotD

Hello,
Have you ever heard of the Mexican celebrations called "Day of the Dead" or anything about Sugar Skulls?
(~*~)
Every year starting November 1st (at midnight) to the 2nd, Mexicans honour & celebrate the lives of their loved ones whom have passed away. To many it can be a way to remember the beauty within them, the love they shared, and of course the ties they had between them.
We here at C.E.S. appreciate this, and like to raise awareness/ "clone" this in our own ways. We start this on October 1st to encourage awareness of the upcoming Day, and enable more comfort for others to participate.  Welcome to my land of many themed activities/ events, that last ALL MONTH!
 What
Activities I host, that include my own, and community events.:
 1. Kick Stress to the Curb (KSttC) - Fall event + History
Starts end of September (in Guelph) for this "Le Challenge"!
+

~ Any wishing to share their deadly readings/ writings for therapeutic reasons.

The end of September (last weekend) thru October (all month).

 HOW:
 COME JOIN US! (^&^)

Undead Daze

(~*~)
Hello,
Welcome to another old Edu-idea of mine!
F.A.Q.:
What are "Undead Daze", and why did I start them on Mental Health Awareness Day?:
These can be the adventures/ journeys taken that can bring us awareness of our own mental health, while we are out and about in costume during the Halloween season. As some create ourselves "from the ground up" several times throughout our lives, this can be a useful tool for self-improvement efforts. When we think in this realm (even when not in costume) throughout the year, we can use this tool at any time.
(~*~)
WHAT
A series of community awareness/ growth opportunities throughout the month.
 Runs: Oct.5th - Oct.31st.
 'Le Challenge' #1: Grand Awareness
Attend as many local/ semi-local themed events as possible - we also host a few of our own.
 OPTIONS:
 a)
Find out what, where, and when themed fun is happening throughout the month.
 b) An "opinion pole": What would you like to see offered within our community?
Write it down, blog it, or submit it someone that can do something with it!
 c) A self-study of how we interact when in costume/ behind a mask.
Does it bring up any "cautionary awareness" of our own mental health? We can only improve on any negatives, if we acknowledge, realize, and recognize them. It's good to stretch our minds, and bodies - before they get too stiff. "Interesting Finds (I.F.)" can be everywhere, even in our own "back yard".
Feel free to invite family/ friends, and add extra fun by dressing for the occasion(s)!
 +

 'Le Challenge' #2: Halloween Caper
Pick a weekend in October that is before OR after the "usual" times/ weekends of celebrations, and attend an event(s) within our communities while dressed in costume/ for Halloween.
 +
'Le Challenge' #3: Be Frank for a day!
October 26th is known as Frankenstein Friday!
Can you walk/ dress to look like Frank? Are you brave enough to go for a stroll, take city transit, or attend an event(s) outside/ around your neighbourhood/ community like this?

 ~+=
  PREPARATION LIST
Hair, skin, scar(s), bolts, coat/ shirt, and pants - shoes optional.
 +
BONUS: Kitchener/ Waterloo King St. Krawl (KKK+)
This year (2014), it is on the 2nd last weekend - October 18th.
Usually the last Saturday night before Halloween Day, but depends on Northbound Leather's event.  This may be relocated to the weekend prior.
It's a 'Halloween Community Sprawl!' (1008121051PMishC.E.S.)
Attend at least 3 locations along this street that runs through both cities!
The best parts lie in the options you choose:
~ How many locations to attend, and in which order.
~ Amounts of time & money spent in each location.

~ When you are done, and if you want to repeat it next year!
WHY
~ To encourage awareness and participation of community businesses, activities, events, and opportunities.
~ To enable more choice/ "voice" from our community, to those who organize/ run our community activities, events, opportunities, and otherwise.
~ To encourage awareness of our own mental illnesses/ health, and enable improvements within ourselves.
~ To enable expanded thinking about negatives, as possible positives.
~ To enable a positive perspective, of the widely known negative term attached to the letter "K" being used 3 times together.
~ To encourage other examples of Life's negative perspectives, to be changed to positives.
NOTE:
Things that make a positive change/ difference is what the world needs. Whether it's changing perspectives, encouraging the good in others by example/ suggestion, or other means; we all could use more in Life!

WHO
Calling all interested zombies, vampires, goblins, ghouls, sugar skullians and any other dead, undead, or "alternative/ underworld" family members!
 WHEN
  OCTOBER 5th - 31st
 WHERE
In our neighbourhoods, parks, public transit, buildings, and realities... Wherever you wish!
 HOW
Join us/ accept the challenges where you live, and feel free to share with us after!
 ~+=
 PERMISSIONS:
Our apartment buildings/ complexes, sidewalks, public transit, and parks are public domains.

Kick Stress to the Curb (KSttC)

Hello,
It's as it sounds, Life can get hectic without much stress relief. It's time, are you ready?!
WHY
To encourage community awareness and participation.
To take a break from Life's stresses, and aid where possible with ideas!

=
WHAT, WHERE, & WHEN
Relatively "inexpensive" or free events within our local/ semi-local communities.
1. WINTER - Cold Nights Revival! End of January
Dark January @ Yuk Yuk's - Walper Hotel in Kitchener, Ontario.
+&+

2. SPRING - April Showers bring many kinds of flowers!
a) April 30th - 1/2 way mark to Halloween.
b) International Monster Day
c) Options of Mom's/ Dad's Day
Celebrations include Spring/ Halloween activities, event attendances, "Le Challenge"s, or otherwise.
IDEAS:
* Create: themed arts & crafts, paint/ decorate them, & "glitterize"/ "Bedazzle".
* Do some Spring cleaning/ purging, or help others with theirs.
* Have a yard/ garage sale.
* Dress up and attend an International Monster Day event(s).
* Re-invent negative aspects/ perspectives into positives - there are lots that could use a positive spin. Ex. The negative attached to the letter K being used 3 times together – "KKK". I started an event called "KKK+": This encourages a much better meaning to be attached!
* Volunteer at events/ festivals.
+&+

3. SUMMER - Cabin Fever!
July & August - Top 3 Choices:
~ FREE SWIMS!
At family/ friends' places, local parks' splash pads, the beach, Tim Horton's Free Swims across Alberta & Ontario, etc...
~ FREE COMMUNITY EVENTS/ FESTIVALS!
Lots happen with warmer weather. Ex. Buskerfest.
~ CAMPING
In the woods/ "out back", at a family/ friend's place, party, & of course campsites! There are some great spots out there, if you look. (^&~)
+&+
